Sanger Sequencing Training to Strengthen Molecular Diagnostic Capacity
The Duke–Ruhuna Collaboration is committed to continuous capacity building. In line with this commitment, beginning in 2025, the leadership of the Collaboration has introduced an annual training component for Duke–Ruhuna staff members, tailored to their respective capacities and research interests.
As part of this initiative, a Sanger sequencing training program was conducted as a key capacity-building activity for selected research staff: Dr. Ruvini Kurukulasooriya (Senior Research Scientist - Grade I), Mr. Buddhika Dilshan (Laboratory Research Manager - Grade I), Ms. Jayani. Gamage (Laboratory Research Manager - Grade II), and Ms. Senali Weerasinghe (Research Scientist - Grade II).
The training was conducted as a full-day program over two consecutive days, on 12th and 13th September 2025, and was facilitated by Synergy Bio (Pvt) Ltd, Malabe. This program aimed to systematically strengthen essential technical competencies, thereby enhancing the molecular diagnostic capacity supporting both ongoing and future research activities by reflecting the collaboration’s ongoing commitment to research excellence, sustainability, and capacity development.
